Reasons I love living in NYC: random street music under my window
Someone on the street near me just started playing some kind of woodwind that I don't recognize, and playing it really well.
Could be a recorder. It has a clear piping sound, not like the breathy tone of panpipes; the notes are individual, not continuous the way a flute sounds. It's too high for an oboe or, I think, a clarinet.
Whatever. I really like it.
Yay, New York!!! You rock!
[Update, some time later: Also, a blue helium balloon just soared past my 15th-floor window. A minute later, a yellow one went after it, moving fast as though calling "Wait for me!" Often, I get to watch plastic grocery bags soaring on the updrafts...they frequently go well above my eyeline. It's cool. :>]
